lol! I have a feeling that Fi has been a bad influence on us both!

But that was very definitely worth waiting for.

It was indeed fantastically awesome and I loved almost all of it...

... except Irene didn't beat Sherlock (that's *why* he remembers her in canon!), was bad rather than morally ambiguous, and needed rescuing by Sherlock at the end. I don't think The Moff can help himself.

Still head and shoulders above almost everything else on TV though!

I had really wondered whether they would go the whole hog and have Irene beating Sherlock, but came to the conclusion at the end that they didn't because they didn't want to show him as completely fallible to the audience. I don't think he's established enough for that yet. With the original story it's one instance among many - in this situation it's only the fourth case the audience has seen him working on, and it's too soon to shatter the image.

The fact that who was on top contstantly shifted was good enough for me, to be honest - it kept me guessing well enough.

I have to admit I've never read the books or seen any other version of Holmes, so I have nothing to compare it with. It definitely kept me guessing what was going on between them and what she was doing.

You possibly are at an advantage there, actually, as you have no expectations of how they're going to do certain things, or any knowledge of how the plots might develop. I know it was disadvantage to me when seeing the new Sherlock Holmes movie the other week, as I spent about the last twenty minutes waiting for the obvious to happen because I've read all the stories (I won't be specific, just in case!)

I really, really enjoyed it, I kept squeeing and laughing out loud at various bits, which is usually a good sign!

It was amazing - my one tiny quibble is I'd have rather it was left more ambiguous about what happened to Irene at the end.
But it was just brilliant - the acting, the script and I thought they'd done a great job of Irene Adler and her relationship with Holmes. And I can't wait to see more of Moriarty.

I liked the relationship between them, although, as I commented above, I've never read the books or anything, so have nothing to compare it to about how their relationship should have been played.

I did think she would be far too good a character to be killed off, though.

yey! It was possibly the best thing I've seen on tv over the whole Christmas/New year period, and that's even counting the Doctor Who Christmas special as well!
