Another one for the Primeval 100 challenge 176 - bad romance.

Abby didn’t want romance. Abby wanted tough guys. Bad boys. No strings sex and fun.

Connor was the antithesis of tough guy. Connor was safe. Connor tried so hard at romance; fumbled gestures, stammered words, well meant hugs.

Abby didn’t want love. Love was pain and hurt, and inevitably led to betrayal and loss. ‘Forever’ was always a lie.

Connor said he loved her. Connor wanted ‘happily ever after’. Connor offered everything that Abby was afraid of.

Abby didn’t want to be afraid. She didn’t want to be hurt again.

Better for both of them if she didn’t want Connor.

I think she does lie to herself all the time where relationships are concerned. *Something* in her past has made her scared of commitment and relationships, otherwise why would she keep denying her blatantly obvious feelings for Connor?

Do you think they will *ever* give us a backstory on those two. Oh I wish! But, I have a sneaking suspicion that that will be left up to us fic writers to continue to produce. *sigh*

I don't know, I doubt it, to be honest. Or if they do, it will probably just be some vague reference to abuse, or a bad relationship in the past, and it'll all get hand-waved away within an episode or two. *also sighs*

Yeah, that's what I figured to. It's too bad because Andrew at least, and probably Hannah, can do the dramatic so well. Is it 2011 yet? Agh! Keep in mind, I'm an American and I won't be able to see it right away. :-(

yeah, we all know she wants Connor, the big question is why Abby seems to fight against that all the time instead of going for it. In all other aspects of her character she seems perfectly sensible and happy, so why is she so scared when it comes to relationships?
