            Abby doesn’t like needing to be rescued. She’s strong, she’s resourceful, she’s tough. She hates the thought that the others might see her as a damsel in distress. And when the scary shit does happen to her, she sure as hell doesn’t need to be comforted afterwards.       

Near death experiences come with the job. If you can’t take the heat, quit chasing the dinosaurs, right?

She can handle this.

            So it surprises her how grateful she feels when Connor puts his arms around her, his expression still pale and scared, and whispers over and over, “It’s okay, Abby, you’re safe now.”

I was actually a bit worried that the last little bit would spoil the effect of the first part, by contradicting Abby's belief that she is tough and independent and implying that she is just a girl who needs comfort. But I think (or at least I hope) the two parts work together rather than being mutually exclusive.

Aww I love this. Abby is strong but she doesn't need to be all the time. (Even thought I agree TFIC should stop making her look like a bloody damsel in distress)

Abby is great. Me, Reggie and Luka had a long and involved discussion about Abby-in-danger last week, and I certainly don't think she comes across as a damsel in distress. It's easy to get that impressin from episodes like 1.4 or 2.4, but if you look at the series as a whole, *all* the team end up in danger and need to be rescued sooner or later, not just Abby. Although I did take Luka's point that perhaps it seems more annoying when it is Abby because in Series 2 she was so severely underused as a character that it was just more obvious because the only time she got any decent action scenes was when she was in danger.

Fingers crossed for a more competent and better rounded Abby in series 3.
