It was never easy taking over command of a unit from a dead officer. Especially one as well liked and respected as Captain Ryan.
Still, even if he was never going to be their best friend, the men followed his orders, and that was all Becker really needed.
Besides, he had made friends among the civilians. More than friends when, after months of increasingly obvious flirting, Connor finally came to his bed.
Still, though, something felt off.
Eventually Becker discovered the treasured photo of Connor and Ryan smiling together.
That was when Becker knew he would always be second best.
