Life on Earth started in the ocean. Every palaeontologist knows that. As a teenager, Connor loved the idea that the origins of life were the result of alien experiments. These days, his theories are a lot less fun.

Now he wonders if life was started by a random organism from the past, present or future straying through an anomaly into the sterile Precambrian ocean. What if life from Earth created life on Earth? Then life would be the universe’s biggest ever perpetual time-loop paradox; a freakish, fragile accident.

Sometimes, in the dark of night, Connor finds these thoughts rather frightening.

Actually, I find those thoughts rather frightening! Not to mention they give me a headache! *g*

Very cool take on the prompt.

I'd been having thoughts on this for quite a while, but never found an appropriate fic to voice them in until I saw this prompt, and then it was sudenly perfect.
