If I were Abby, I would've slapped Caroline, even before the Rex incident. I don't blame her for being annoyed at someone in her space and criticizing her looks and actions.

I never thought of Abby as the damsel-in-distress in this episode, because like you mentioned, she fought the creature before. Like others have said, she can still be a strong character and still have to be rescued sometimes.
